An orange tree on rooftop deck – Brazos Lofts

This post is woefully late!  DANA held it’s Downtown Austin Living Tour on October 24th – a well organized, self paced tour of  13 different downtown residencies, including, condos, lofts, apartments and even an historic house!

Not all the places were for sale. And one, the residencies at the W, was not even finished.  We really did enter a construction site.

incredible view from the W condo

It really was designed to get a good feel of life in the heart of downtown Austin, the different options, styles, locations, amenities, ect…  Although some buildings downtown have been in existence for many years, the explosion of the downtown living is a recent one. And it’s very curious to us neighborhood house dwellers.

I approached the day both as a business learning opportunity, to know more about options for my clients AND as a fun & interesting day out with friends, admiring cool features, views & design ideas.  We walked the entire tour, about 5 hrs, and I did not take as many pictures as i should, so please check the link at the end with fab Cory Ryan’s official pics.

I was really impressed with use of space in some of the smaller lofts, they often felt bigger with lots of natural light, well placed furniture, efficient design.  The closeness to some businessess was kind of exciting too, I would love to walk on over to Wholefoods.  Like from The Spring Condominiums or Austin City Lofts.

Many of the buildings offer communal spaces for socializing, with big screen TVs, kitchens, small theaters (Gables Park Place), swimming pools, dog runs, and even have planned events. Sounds pretty fun. I can see benefits to getting to know neighbors, a sense of community.

And of course….from the high rises…the views, to die for.

If you would like to see which properties were on the tour, and to make sure you know about it next year, check out the DLT website
