Diez y Seis de Septiembre Celebrations - Austin celebrates the Mexican call for Independence from Spain with a kick off celebration at Town Hall from 11am-2p, followed by the traditional “grito” at The Mexican American Cultural Center from 7-10 PM. It’s going to be a special celebration this year with entertainers from the Yucatan, mariachis, food & drinks to celebrate 200 years of Mexican independence . HAAM Benefit Day – from 6am till way into the night Austin businesses donate 5% of the day’s proceeds to HAAM (the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians) support musicians’ health. Musicians, most of whom are HAAM members, perform throughout the day at stores, outside stages, City Hall and more.
