So What’s So Weird About Austin?

It’s funny – when you really stop to analyze the phrase “keep Austin weird…,” it doesn’t really make a lot of sense.

Weird to whom?

I don’t think Austin is weird.

People from big cities like New York and San Francisco don’t think Austin is weird. None of my friends think Austin is weird either.

Austin is just….Austin. For those of us who like music, ’50s bungalows, vegan food, running, modern architecture, Leslie, Barton Springs, The Continental Club, slackers, etc., the rest of the country is weird.

Do you know what I’m talking about?

This blog is for those of you who think the same way. For those who find themselves at home in Clarksville, South Austin, East Austin, and Hyde Park.

Those of us who’d feel like a fish out of water in places like Dallas, Abilene, Phoenix or Tulsa.

Come join me in this journey through this town that I love, the place that launched the careers of Janis Joplin, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Fastball. The place that doesn’t hesitate to call itself the Live Music Capital of the World without a single shred of statistical evidence.

Subscribe to my RSS feed in your Google Reader or whatever other reader you use to get more insight into Austin , it’s neighborhoods, cool music, hip little eateries, funky little boutiques, fun hula hoop classes, and all things vegan.

See ya soon!
