Saturday Dec 4th

Scamps & Scoundrels – an urban dog challenge

I don’t even have a dog and i’m excited for this. Benefiting Austin Pets Alive!¬† and held by Austin Dirty Dog – Contestants (teams of one dog and up to 4 humans) will figure out clues to downtown, dog-friendly locations. Once there, the each member of the team will be required to complete a task, and then end up at the new Austin Pets Alive building for a party! It’s free but the teams need to register to participate.¬†

Holiday Sing-Along & Downtown Stroll –¬† 6 to 9 pm. meet at the south steps of the State Capitol, sing Christmas Carols, ending with the lighting of the tree in front of the Capitol! ¬†a looong time¬† & sweet Austin tradition

Travis Heights Art Trail – also on Sunday Dec 5th – explore the homes & studios of the artists of the Travis Heights neighborhood of Austin, near South Congress.

Urban Farm Bicycle Tour – as part of Edible Austin’s Eat Local Week, this family friendly bike tour encourages foodies to enjoy traveling around Austin by bike in a safe atmosphere while showing the bike community where to discover some of Austin’s fab foods! Sunday Dec 5th

Lighting of the Zilker Tree of Lights – 6pm – Zilker Park

Bring an unwrapped toy for Blue Santa , sip on hot chocolate and spin under the tree!

Drink Local Coffee Festival – For True Coffee Lovers!! ¬†part of Edible Austin’s Eat Local week¬† you can sample coffee and coffee drinks from Central Texas‚Äôs¬† coffee roasters. I happen to know that the ladies from Kohana Coffee will be there, maybe they will have my signature blend Rockin’ Like Austin¬† – it’s soooo good.
Each roaster will also have coffee beans and products available for sale. Enjoy talks and panel discussions on coffee topics including how to brew and the differences between fair trade and direct trade.  Details and tickets

Jinglebell 5k – at the Domain! it’s always good when you can incorporate shopping into an athletic even.

Armadillo Christmas Bazaar Рopen daily from 11am to 11pm thru Christmas Eve at the Palmer Events Center Рlong time Austin fave. Excellent live music, cool shopping

Thursday December 16th

North Loop Holiday Night Out – do you know the coolness that is North Loop in Austin? North Loop is the equivelant of 53rd street, and the section of it between¬†Chesterfield & Martin is full of groovy businesses, my fave of course being Counter Culture vegan food trailer. They will be serving Corn Dogs.¬† Here is a list of the businesses on NORTH LOOP¬†– the shindig starts at 6pm – here’s the FACEBOOK INVITE if your thus inclined

Sunday December 26th

Zilker Holiday Tree 5k – 4:30 pm – this used to be the Trail of Lights 5K and would kick off the the first day of the trail, but alas, the Trail of Lighs is no more, so now it’s the day after Christmas. A good thing to work off the christmas cookies and afore mentioned hot chocolate. Info here¬† ZILKER 5K
